William P. James
Deputy James was shot and killed following an arrest of a man for evading the selective service draft. As he escorted the man to jail Deputy James shot and mortally wounded him when he produced a pistol. The suspect managed to return fire killing Deputy James.
Deputy James had been with the agency for ten years.
