Constable Little, Sheriff James Barton, Deputy Charles Daly, and Constable Charles Baker were shot and killed while attempting to arrest members of the notorious Flores-Daniels Gang. The gang ambushed the officers, killing them. 52 members of the gang were arrested and 18 were hung for the murders.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 155th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, not even 155 years.
