Officer Nye was killed when his patrol car was broadsided at the intersection of Cassidy Street and Airport Drives while responding to a call for help. Officer Nye's partner was critically injured and forced to give up his career as a law enforcement officer.
Officer Nye had served with the Columbus Division of Police for 26 years. He was survived by his wife and five children.
