Game Warden Dawson Murchison was shot and killed while patrolling the King Ranch for illegal poachers.

The incident occurred near the line between Kleberg County and Jim Wells County. The suspect fled to Mexico and was never apprehended.

Game Warden Murchison had served with the Texas Game, Fish, and Oyster Commission for eight years. He was survived by his wife.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 73rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
