William Warfield Roberts

Deputy Roberts was killed in an automobile accident while transporting a prisoner from Texas to Nebraska to face child desertion charges. While traveling in rainy conditions, Deputy Roberts's patrol car left the roadway and overturned several times striking a telephone pole. Deputy Roberts died at the scene of the accident.
Deputy Roberts had been with the agency for five months and was survived by his wife and three children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 63rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
