Constable Richard Valdez was killed in a single car accident when his vehicle skidded off of a highway and struck a tree. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Constable Valdez had been the elected constable of the Fowler Judicial District for five years. He was survived by his expectant wife and two children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 50th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
