The suspects were also in the process of robbing a local rooming house when the shooting took place. Officer Cucia was able to return fire killing one of the suspects.
The other three suspects caught a train to Youngstown, Ohio, where they shot it out with police who cornered them in an alley. One suspect was killed. The other two escaped.
