William Douglas Bowman

Deputy Bowman was shot and killed during a SWAT training exercise in which he was participating with other members of his agency's SWAT team at Camp Rilea, Oregon.

Deputy Bowman and ten other officers were training in a mock building when a live round was fired from another officer's weapon and struck him in the head. Only dummy rounds were supposed to be used in the exercise.

Deputy Bowman had served with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department for 6 years, and had been part of the SWAT team for 2 years. He is survived by his wife and two children, ages three years and three months.

Bill I’m standing outside the Bowman Training Center remembering you. First as a Paramedic, then as the officer you loved being so much.
I remember you talking to me about the upcoming training at Rilea. How excited you were. We parted saying we’d meet up so you could tell me about the exercise.
