Patrol Deputy Cox was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while assisting a disabled motorist on the Louisiana State Highway. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been with the agency for 11 years and is survived by his wife and two children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 12th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

You will always be honored and revered as time never diminishes, I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
