As a trainee at the Pennsylvania State Police Southwest Training Center in Greensburg, PA, I was given an assignment to look up the circumstances of an officer who had lost his life in the line of duty. I randomly chose Sgt. Hershey's photo from the photos on our Wall of Honor. After reading the reflections about the type of man Sgt. Hershey was, I wish to honor him. I promise to think of him, who he was, what he stood for, and appreciate his service each and every time I pass the wall and render my salute.
