Agent Alvarez-Carrión was killed in an automobile accident while patrolling in the aftermath of Hurricane George. The patrol car struck a horse due to low visibility and poor weather conditions. Two other officers were injured in the accident.

Agent Alvarez-Carrión is survived by his wife and three children.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
