James Bradford-Jean Crooks

Trooper James Crooks was shot and killed while he was involved in a chase of a suspect who had just killed two Tampa detectives, Detectives Randy Bell and Ricky Childers.

Trooper Crooks was attempting to stop the suspect who had car-jacked another driver when gunfire erupted. Trooper Crooks was struck in the head before exiting his cruiser. The suspect then fled the scene and holed up in a gas station for several hours before committing suicide.

Brad, it’s been 20 years and we still can’t believe it. I remember getting that shocking phone call while on shift in the Keys. Some of my best memories include the early morning PT sessions with the 91st on those cold Tallahassee mornings where you gave it your all and I’d never seen anyone more determined and dedicated. You still bring a smile to my face and you were and are an inspiration. I see below Lindsey remembers those days as well. Know you are missed and not forgotten. Keep watch brother, as I know you are; we’ll all be home soon.
