View all 47 Reflections26 years ago today, I lost a close friend & colleague in the line of duty when he was struck by a car and killed on I-675 while investigating a traffic crash on icy roads.
The month before he was killed, John and I had spent three weeks together in evidence technician training at the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab learning how to process crime scenes. We were partners during our practical exercise of processing a mock crime scene.
We also worked together on calls when I was assigned to Washington Twp. and backed each other up on calls.
I remember learning the news that morning that he was killed and driving around the rest of the day in my patrol car crying that I had lost my friend.
Life is short. Never take a day for granted. We never know when life may end so we should treasure each day as if it's our last. We are never guaranteed tomorrow. Love those around you, make the best of each day, live and do your best. Live with no regrets!
