Corporal Gordon was shot and killed after being ambushed. A bails bondman was chasing a bail jumper when the suspect's car crashed at an intersection and the suspect began to run. Corporal Gordon happened to be driving by the scene, not knowing what was happening when the suspect opened fire on his cruiser for no reason, striking and killing him. The suspect then hid nearby and shot at other responding officers before he was shot and wounded.
Corporal Gordon is survived by his two daughters and fiancée.
