Coleman Binion

Sheriff Binion was killed after being struck by a truck. He was returning from taking inmates to the detention center when his patrol car began having mechanical problems. He parked the patrol car in a gravel lot and called another deputy to pick him up. He was struck by the truck as he started to cross the road to wait at a convenience store. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries four hours later.

Sheriff Binion had served with the agency for 12 years. He was survived by his wife.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 12th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
