Pedro E. Mercado-Alvira

Officer Pedro Mercado-Alvira was shot and killed after stopping a suspicious vehicle.

While talking with the occupants Officer Mercado-Alvira recognized one of them as being a wanted fugitive. Upon asking him to exit the vehicle shots were fired and Officer Mercado-Alvira was struck in the neck, killing him instantly. He was wearing a vest at the time of the incident, and the shooter was captured.

Officer Mercado-Alvira worked with the Puerto Rico Police Department in the District of Ceiba.
