Officer Fontanez-Bruno was shot and killed after being identified as a police officer while off duty. He and another officer were carjacked and abducted by unknown suspects.
One of the suspects searched Officer Bruno, found his badge, and assassinated him. His body was abandoned on the side of the road. The second officer was not injured.
Officer Fontanez-Bruno had served with the agency for 1 year.
