James David Young

Trooper Young and Sergeant Willis Haralson, of the Cordele Police Department, Georgia, were shot and killed by a suspect who had managed to gain control of Trooper Young's service weapon. Trooper Young had arrested the man and brought him to the Cordele Police Department for a breath test when the suspect attacked the trooper.

The suspect was later apprehended and sentenced to life but served only 14 years.

Fourteen years is not long enough to pay for snuffing out the life of one of the country's finest officers. May his family be comforted by the God of peace and may they take comfort in knowing that he died trying to keep the peace.
