J. Kyle Young

Deputy J. Kyle Young was shot and killed while investigating a domestic disturbance.

When Deputy Young along with the Dadeville police chief arrived at the home he was shot in the stomach with a .22 caliber rifle. The police chief knocked the suspect out with the butt of his rifle.

The 66-year-old suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. He was paroled on August 17, 1961.

Deputy Young was twice the Tallapoosa Sheriff and a Alabama prison farm warden. He was survived by his wife.
