Ed Yoakum

Officer Ed Yoakum was shot and killed by a home-owner while responding to a burglary call. As he approached the back of the residence he apprehended the burglar who was leaving. The home-owner, who was not fully awake, opened fire and fatally wounded Officer Yoakum.

Officer Yoakum had previously served with the United States Army during World War I. He is buried at Vineyard Grove Cemetery in Fannin County, Texas.

On today, the 95th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served in the U.S. Army during WW I.
