William C. Wurst

Officer William Wurst and Patrolman Donald Aleshire, of the Mount Holly Police Department, were shot and killed by a sniper.

Officer John Holmes, also of the Mount Holly Police Department, was wounded on the same day and paralyzed before succumbing to his injuries 17 years later.

Officer Wurst was a Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Hainesport Police Department for two years. He was survived by his parents, sister, and twin brother.

Bill, years have pasted and you are still missed by so many of us. My father (Sonny) Francis Burns , mourned for you all the time, Easter was never the same with out you here with us. Now dad is up there with you. I know the two of you are having a good time talking over the old days. Just to let you know I name my son William in honor of you. Rest In Peace and give dad a big hug for me.
