Patrolman Wunderlich was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect. The suspect was eventually shot and killed by other officers during a shootout on March 23, 1930. Three other robbery suspects were also shot and killed in the shootout.

Patrolman Wunderlich had served with the Buffalo Police Department for 5 years. He was survived by his wife and a baby daughter.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. . My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I am so glad tht your family has an opportunity to honor you every year in Buffalo.
