Officer Frederick Wright succumbed to injuries sustained four days earlier when his police motorcycle was struck by a speeding mail truck at the intersection of King Street and Maunakea Street. He was transported to Queen's Hospital where he remained until passing away. The officer riding in the motorcycle's sidecar survived the crash.
