Constable Wissinger was shot and killed after responding to a domestic problem at a farmhouse. He and two deputized citizens had gone to the farmhouse to serve a warrant. While they were arresting the suspect four men shot him. The suspects were eventually captured and charged with murder.
Constable Wissinger was survived by his wife and six children.
