Officer Williams was shot and killed while approaching a vehicle that had just been involved in an accident. He had observed the vehicle strike a parked car so he had positioned his cruiser to block the car in. As he approached it the man inside suddely pulled out a handgun and shot Officer Williams in the chest. He was able to return fire and wound the suspect.
Officer Williams had been with the agency for six years and was survived by his wife and two children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored amd revered.
