I remember Charlie well. I was a police cadet when he was murdered. he was always friendly and had a wonderful sense of humor. the only time I saw him upset was when someone would complain about him chewing tobacco. One day when I was working in the jail section, Charlie brought an unruly male prisoner into the booking area. As soon as the cuffs were off the prisoner tried to punch Charlie in the face but Charlie avoided the punch because he was also a boxer. I remember Charlie telling the rest of us to,"Stand back, I got him." After a quick jab and a hard punch the prisoner was knocked out and on the floor. Charlie was a very good man and a very good cop. I am now 63 years old and still feel blessed to have known him and to have been his friend. Rest well, Charlie.
