I was 10-years-old when you got killed. For the past years I always loved when you came to our corner at 12th and German, parked your motorcycle outside our house and watched for traffic violators. You often got off your bike and played frisbee and baseball with my 9 brothers and sisters and I. You let us sit on your bike and play with your bike’s sirens and lights. When you died, a part of all of family did too. I loved you like a father and will always miss you. It was you and always will be you who inspired me to want to be a police officer and have love and respect for the men and women and blue.

With peace and love always to you and your family and friends you left behind, I am always forever missing you to this date, “Officer Melvin Wilcox” you are forever my hero.
