Gregory Ray White

Officer Gregory White was shot and killed during a robbery of a convenience store at the intersection of Alison Court and DeLowe Drive, SW.

Witnesses stated three young men were robbing the store when Officer White, who was taking a break from a special guard duty assignment at the mayor’s house, came in.

Officer White was standing in front of the soft drink cooler when one of the robbers opened fire without warning, shooting him in the head. A police helicopter flew him to the hospital where doctors operated to remove the bullet from the back of his head.

The suspects were apprehended; two were paroled and the third is still serving a prison sentence.

Officer White was survived by his wife and infant daughter.

Greg your legacy though has been almost 42 years still lives on. You were very well loved and immensely missed. I appreciate all the kind thoughts and deeds that have been said and done in yours and our family's behalf. It is especially nice to read what others say about you, as parts of the puzzle are missing. You were truly a choice Rose for Heavenly Father's Garden. Time has marched on and I have made a new life with your brother as my husband, but time will never erase the time we had together.

Love your wife,
Patricia White
