Joe Mason Westbrook

Reserve Deputy Westbrook was shot execution style while moonlighting as a security guard at a local restaurant. Two men entered the restaurant and one of the men began talking to the deputy. The second man walked behind Deputy Westbrook, produced a handgun, and shot him in the back of the head without warning. The suspect then shot him three more times after he fell to the ground. The man also shot the cook as he ran towards the manager's office.

The manager, hearing the gun shots, grabbed his own gun and shot the suspect as he came into the office, killing him. The second suspect fled the scene but was later arrested and executed for Reserve Deputy Westbrook's murder.

On this day November 24, 2016 my dad would have been 80 years old. Thank you to everyone who helps keep his memory alive. My mother, E. LaVonne Westbrook, has also passed on where I know she is with the love of her life. He was a good man and a great dad, living by y example. My brother has also passed on. My dad has a beautiful family of grandkids and now a great grand child who never got to know him... But we are all fiercely proud of my dad and our family.... And the support we received at the time of Dad's death and through efforts like this one as the years pass have meant so much to me especially... Happy Thanksgiving to all and Happy Birthday Dad! Love, Gwen
