I was patrol captain the night Timmy was murdered. It hit everyone very hard as you can imagine. As patrol captain I got the call at home that night and I responded first to the scene but then over to the hospital. The hardest part by far was being in the ER while they worked on him and seeing the extent of injury to the head that he had suffered; it was quite literally crushed flat . I was amazed that he was still alive. He briefly opened his eyes but I doubt that he knew what was going on. It was bad but equally as bad was seeing his dad David, a retired firefighter, as he also came into the room to see Timmy. He took one look then our eyes met and we both shook our heads without saying a word; we both knew how terribly severe the injuries were and the Timmy would most likely not survive. He was a fighter though and hung on for 12 days before passing on. Of my 32 years in law enforcement this was by far the toughest experience. RIP Timmy.
