Detective Weiss was shot and killed while conducting an undercover narcotics investigation. His investigation led him to the 2500 block of South Park Road where he was shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.

The suspect was arrested, convicted of murder, and was sentenced to 65 years in prison. The murderer was denied parole in February 2006.

I was working the night this fine officer was killed. The lady said it is time to forgive. I hold no hate in my heart. I hope she holds no hate towards me when I say society is owed forty five more years. And I ask when this man comes up for parole that there is always someone there to speak for the dead. His only crime was being a police officer.
He was shot for no reason except Robbery. The debt is far from being paid.
