Sergeant Thomas Wade was killed in a motorcycle accident while on traffic duty with a state motor vehicle inspector on State Route 34. The inspector had stopped next to a vehicle to get information from the driver. Sergeant Wade swerved around the back of the stopped vehicle and struck the inspector's motorcycle. Sergeant Wade was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that night.

Sergeant Wade was a WWI veteran and had been with the agency for 11 years. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
