My Great Grandfather ... Edward W. Von Holten. When I was a kid, I remember my Grandfather (Earl) receiving a very special Christmas gift. My dad (David) and uncle (Ed) had wrapped a framed memorial to honor my Great Grandfather. His police badge, his gun belt, a silver cigar case and a photo that he was carrying when the accident happened. I remember the look on my grandfather's face as he realized it was his fathers badge and photo. He immediately broke down and cried like a baby. As I child I was frightened to see him cry but now realize how special that Christmas truly was. There was not a dry eye in that house. I didn't know the full story until today when I found this on the internet. The Circle of Life and the power of the internet. I'm proud to discover that my Great Grandfather was a true Hero!
