Deputy Vier was shot and killed after he entered a house near Oaks, Kansas, to arrest a man.

On March 12, 1906, the suspect also shot and killed Deputy Marshal Ike Gilstrap as he was riding with a posse in search of the suspect.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
