Officer William Turner was killed in an automobile accident while on patrol on Jonesboro Road, SE.

Officer Turner, who was the passenger of a cruiser that had been in a high speed chase involving auto theft suspects, was killed when his partner lost control of the police vehicle at a location known as "Dead Man's Curve".

Officer Turner was survived by his wife and son.
