George Thompson

Deputy Game Warden George Thompson was shot and killed near Pennington, Sutter County, by a hunter after asking to see his hunting license.

He encountered the man on the Colusa-Pennington Road a half-mile east of Pennington Church.

The suspect, a recently released mental patient, was found to be insane and unable to stand trial. He died in an insane asylum in Napa on April 9th, 1942.

Game Warden Thompson had served with the agency for seven years. He was survived by his wife, three children, parents, and eight siblings.
