Officer Thomas was shot and killed by a grocery store owner as he and other officers entered his unlocked store to investigate a possible burglary. The officers were unaware that the owner was living in the back of the store. The owner said he opened fire because he thought the officers were burglars.

ODMP is participating in the CrowdRise Giving Tower Holiday Challenge, an annual fundraising competition that runs from November 24th through January 7th and raises millions of dollars for charity.

Every charity keeps the money they raise and the organizations that raise the most receive prizes ranging from $25,000 to $100,000.
