Officer Edward Sullivan was struck and killed as he was assisting another officer investigate an earlier accident near Hudson and West Florissant in Dellwood, Missouri.

Officer Sullivan and Officer Centiempo had been investigating a call for a car striking a pole. Officer Sullivan went to retrieve a first aid kit for the driver when he and the patrol car were struck by a vehicle. Officer Sullivan died later at Christian Hospital Northwest, and the suspect was arrested and booked for driving while intoxicated and manslaughter. The suspect pled guilty to manslaughter and was given a suspended sentence and five years on probation.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
