Patrolman Sturdivant was shot and killed after responding to a domestic disturbance. The male victim claimed that his wife had chased him out of the home with a pistol. Patrolman Sturdivant was shot three times by the suspect as he and other officers attempted a forced entry to take the barricaded suspect into the custody. During the ensuing standoff the woman fired more then 40 rounds at officers. She was finally taken into custody after running out of ammunition.

The suspect was committed to the Worchester Insane Asylum.

Patrolman Sturdivant had been with the agency for 15 years and was survived by his wife.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
