Detective George Stuckey was killed during a traffic stop.

Detective Stuckey pulled over three men who had just robbed a bank in Levittown. As Detective Stuckey approached the vehicle, one of the suspects opened fire, killing Detective Stuckey. All three suspects were apprehended.

The man shot fatally shot Detective Stuckey was sentenced to life in prison. He escaped from prison on two different occasions by wearing smuggled civilian clothes and walking out of the prisons. He was captured in Canada after the first escape and captured in Tunisia after the second escape. He was returned to the United States both times to complete his sentence.

Detective Stuckey had served with the agency for 7 years. He was survived by his wife and two young kids.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 40th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.
