The Buick they were driving was only two days old and was the department's first police car. As they entered the intersection of 19th and Pearl Streets they collided with the city's first fire truck. So far, the first and only deputy from our agency (that we know of), to die in the line of duty. You're not forgotten . . . your story is in our sesquicentennial book, and is also displayed for all to see at our headquarters. Thank you for your service and for helping to make America a safer place.
