Officer Larry Stewart was shot and killed after responding to a night club at 2895 Kalakaua Avenue, in Waikiki, for reports of an unruly customer harassing other customers.
The suspect was able to gain control of Officer Stewart's service revolver and shot him. Other officers responding to the scene shot and killed the suspect.
Officer Stewart had served with the Honolulu Police Department for five years. He was survived by his parents.
