Patrolman Stapp was shot and killed by a suspect with a 12-gauge shotgun. The man was sentenced to life and was denied parole in 2000. He later died in prison.

I was just thinking of Lloyd today for some reason. My dad, Charles Self, served with him on the Sweetwater, Tn. force. He was like an uncle to me and my sister, and I still remember his kindness and decency. He was such a good man, and still missed.
