Officer John Stachnik was killed in a motorcycle accident as he was driving southbound on Wabash. As he made a right turn onto 11th Street, the throttle of the 3-wheel motorcycle stuck. Officer Stachnik struck a street sign with his head as the motorcycle began to turn over. Officer Stachnik succumbed to his injuries following brain surgery.
