In July of 1995 my dad asked me to go with him to DC for the opening of the Korean Veteran's Memorial. He fought with the Marines in Korea during the war.
While we were there I told my dad I wanted to go to the the Law Enforcement Memorial and pay my respects to an old partner of mine that was killed in the line of duty.
While we were at the wall my dad wondered out loud if his father might be on the wall even though he was killed in The Panama Canal Zone.
He started at one end of the wall and I started at the other. A short time later I looked to see my dad on his knees crying. He had found his father on the wall. My grandfather. First time I had seen my dad cry.
We learned that the memorial did not have a picture of my grandfather for their website. We were happy to provide them with one.
Special day for my dad and me to find Arthur Smart at the Law Enforcement Memorial.

To my Granddad

We never had a chance to meet, but you will always have my love, respect, and admiration.

And I - have your name
