Police Officer Frank Slaymaker succumbed to gunshot wounds received 10 days earlier while he arresting a man and woman for robbing a person in a Chinese restaurant.

As Officer Slaymaker and the couple waited for a wagon the male suspect suddenly produced a revolver and shot him at the corner of 9th Street and Wood Street. The suspect fled but was quickly apprehended.

The suspect, age 18, was convicted of Officer Slaymaker's murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison on October 9th, 1906.

Officer Slaymaker served with the Philadelphia Police Department for seven months and was survived by his wife, father, and mother.
