Officer Anderson was shot and killed while outside of a known criminal hangout on Vandeventer Avenue. His body was found five gunshot wounds to the back of his head, back, and neck. No suspects were ever identified or apprehended.
Officer Anderson had been with the agency for 25 years and was survived by his wife and two children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, not even 87 years.
