Dennis Lee Sheffield

Lieutenant Sheffield was shot and killed while serving a civil summons on a suspect. He and two other area law enforcement officers arrived at the residence with a rented moving truck in order to remove some of property. Lieutenant Sheffield went to the front door as another went to the rear of the home. After several minutes of knocking on the door the suspect opened it and shot Lieutenant Sheffield in the chest. The suspect was shot and killed by the other officers on the scene.
Lieutenant Sheffield had been with the agency for two years.
