Officer Leland Anderson was shot with his own weapon at 8th Street and Congress Avenue after three suspects he was attempting to arrest attacked him.

He began to question the men after noticing they were selling papers. When he attempted to arrest one of the men on outstanding traffic warrants he was attacked.
