Technician Shaw was struck by a dump truck and killed while investigating an accident. Technician Shaw was dispatched to an accident on I-240. When Technician Shaw arrived he put out cones and a caution sign and was walking back to his car when a dump truck, unable to stop because of wet pavement, crashed through the sign and into Technician Shaw's car, forcing the car into him.

Technician Shaw was removed to the hospital where he died five days later from his injuries.

Your service is honored today, the 26th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those who miss and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace
